A young boy died today;
we were shocked
but why? We know
death can come at
any time
and definitely
comes to us all,
yet we deny, resist, wail
live in fear of
the day when
it is our time.

Yet there is something
peaceful about accepting
death …ours and others,
of letting go of
the «what-ifs»
of bargaining
if not for more life
at least escaping
eternal suffering.

I have let go of
these notions
and am content
just to savor
this time
not look back
when it is time
to go
for I am ready
now or many
years from now.
